Grand Champion Summerdown Pure Genius or
as she is known at home, 'Steffi' is a five year
old Oriental Red. Her sire is Grand Champion
Summerdown Cream Blaze and her dam is
Tangoni Topaz.

Steffi started her career on the show bench when
she was a kitten and during her whole kitten
career she was unbeaten and gained Best of
Breed every time that she was shown. When she
became an adult, Oriental Red still had not
achieved Championship status so she began her
adult show career competing for Intermediate
Certificates of which she gained four. In 1995,
Red's gained Championship status so Steffi was
able to compete for Challenge Certificates of
which she has gained seven so far.

On Saturday, 5th April 1997, Steffi became the
first Oriental Red in the United Kingdom to gain
the title of Grand Champion. It was a day of
celebration as I hoped that she would be the first
one, but you can never tell what the judges will
do on the day!!

Steffi is a lovely girl with a wonderful
temperament, she has a virtually clear coat with
minimal ghost tabby markings, she is a seal
based red which does mean that her coat is a
rather paler red than that of a chocolate based
red. She will now retire from the show bench to
concentrate on maternity duties as she has only
had two litters of kittens so far, her kittens were
as beautiful as she is.
